My Three Favorite Bohlsen Group Media Relations Wins of 2020

By: Amanda McCormick, Earned Media Coordinator

What a year. In 2020, we saw a global pandemic, murder hornets, Australian bushfires, Harry and Meghan quitting their royal duties and far too many other things to list, but have you seen my favorite Bohlsen Group media relations moments of 2020?

Indianapolis Children’s Choir Unity Video

At the beginning of 2020, shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic began, the Indianapolis Children’s Choir shared an uplifting pitching opportunity with us. They transitioned to virtual rehearsals due to COVID-19 and put their overarching theme of unity at the forefront to encourage their students during the uncertain times.

We pitched a video of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir singing their theme song, Unity, during a virtual rehearsal and received coverage from local FOX affiliate, FOX59. The interview talked about the importance of community and shared the choir’s optimism throughout the pandemic. In a trying time, a feel good story showing community members finding their outlet was just what we needed.

Coverage of the Unity video can be found here.

Hoosier Hospitality Promise Campaign

As the state of Indiana looked to reopen safely, Bohlsen Group had the opportunity to partner with the Indiana Destination Development Corporation (IDDC) to create branding and build awareness around a safety initiative for the hospitality and tourism industry in the state. Bohlsen Group worked hard to develop various creative assets and an earned media campaign.

Bohlsen Group pitched to raise awareness for the Hoosier Hospitality Promise, an initiative that  allows businesses across industries to take a promise ensuring they are taking proper safety measures to protect their employees and customers during the pandemic.

In just one month, we received over 63 million potential impressions from 29 media placements. To learn more about the Hoosier Hospitality Promise, visit https://visitindiana.com/promise

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana’s Giving Tuesday

For Giving Tuesday, Bohlsen Group encouraged Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana to give insight on working in a nonprofit. Our team worked with a Ronald McDonald House spokesperson to put together an article sharing how nonprofits work, the impact of nonprofits and how to support the nonprofit industry.

When the article was pitched it received placements in both the Indianapolis Star and the Indianapolis Business Journal. The best part was one of our interns, Erin McCreadie, was a huge part of this effort and helped secure these key publications for our partner. I love the excitement you feel from landing the perfect coverage and was even more excited that Erin got to experience it while being a part of our internship program.
