Rod Porter (@rodindy) manages the Bohlsen Group’s day-to-day operations, staff, clients, opportunities and services, as well as cultivates new business.
An accomplished communication professional, Rod has a reputation for achieving an organization’s financial and marketing objectives. His background includes extensive creative work, including writing and multi-media production.
Rod worked at several news stations before finding a long-term home at WTHR-TV as program director, where he oversaw the programming, production, art, promotion and creative services departments for more than 20 years. Most recently, Rod directed marketing, revenue development, special events and volunteer coordination at Easter Seals Crossroads.
Rod knows how to put employees in positions that play to their assets. He is an inclusive, consensus-building leader who applies an even-tempered and good-natured personality to his forward-thinking approach and expertise in solving even the toughest problems.
On the volunteer front, Rod has served on the boards of directors of the 500 Festival and Youth as Resources, the 500 Festival Community Day Committee and Kids Day/Rookie Run Committee, the World Basketball Championships Local Organizing Committee and the Visa Gymnastics Championships Publicity Committee.
Rod graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor’s in journalism. He also is a Certified Master Gardener.
