Client: Jerome Chazen, indie author with Author Solutions, is a founder and former chairman of Liz Claiborne Inc. Chazen’s genius significantly contributed to turning Liz Claiborne into of the largest fashion apparel companies in history, growing from a total investment of $250,000 into a stunningly successful Fortune 500 company.
In his book My Life at Liz Claiborne: How We Broke the Rules and Built the Largest Fashion Company in the World, Chazen divulges the company’s strategies, tactics, struggles and successes in a record of what they did and how they did it.
Challenge: Although his story involved a fashion apparel company, Chazen wanted to focus more on the business aspects for his book’s publicity campaign. His aim was to serve as a role model for “breaking the rules of the industry” to achieve business glory, offering guidance to business hopefuls from a business success.
Solution: With a new take on business strategy written by an expert in women’s apparel and creating business models as our pitch, we reached out to mainstream national publications and broadcast outlets in addition to niche markets focused strictly on business, the economy, financial interest, Fortune 500 companies, the fashion industry and women’s apparel.
Results: Bohlsen Group received book requests from top business, economic and fashion-interest media outlets, including Lucky, Newsweek, NPR and The Wall Street Journal. We scheduled interviews with Chazen on niche outlets as well, including TheStreet.com, Investor’s Business Daily, Women’s Wear Daily, Fox Business Network, Crain’s New York, FoxNews.com Live, Bloomberg Businessweek and Thomson Reuters.
