WARMfest makes Indianapolis debut on Labor Day weekend

A major new festival known as The White River Arts & Music Festival (WARMfest) today announced that its inaugural three-day event would take place on Labor Day weekend at Broad Ripple Park in Indianapolis.

WARMfest will bring together several key Indianapolis cultural groups including Indy Parks & Recreation, Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace and Broad Ripple Music Fest. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Carl G. Fisher Society, a non-profit whose goal is to restore the waterfront of Broad Ripple.

“The vision for this festival has been developing for a few years,” stated event founder and Executive Director Dan Ripley. "And the music lineup is evolving just as we had hoped. We look forward to reintroducing Indianapolis to the BroadRipple waterfront resort area that has been lost for decades.”

Live music will be featured throughout the entire run of the event on five stages and will include a mix of national, regional and local talent. The initial lineup booked by MOKB Presents includes Big Head Todd and The Monsters, Michael Franti & Spearhead, JJ Grey & Mofro, G. Love & Special Sauce, Mayer Hawthorne, Delta Spirit, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Red Wanting Blue, Kopecky Family Band and many more.

WARMfest will also include a large array of live entertainment across all five stages including DJs, theatre groups and national talent. The 2013 installment of the Broad Ripple Music Fest, a staple Indianapolis music event, will take place at WARMfest this year and will secure and host the local live music stages. The wildly successful monthly event known as Indie Arts & Vintage Marketplace changes locations each month and for September will be held at WARMfest throughout the weekend. In addition WARMfest will also include waterfront exhibitions from local organizations, a dedicated area for non-profit environmental groups, recycling education areas, off-site parking with shuttle service to and from the event grounds and free bicycle parking at the event entrance.

Celebrating 25 years of Indiana's legendary outdoor concert venue

Klipsch Music Center, located just north of Indianapolis, is celebrating its 25^th anniversary during their 2013 summer concert season. In 1989 Deer Creek Music Center opened its doors and over the past quarter century has become known across the U.S., and beyond, as one of the premiere concert stops for the biggest names in entertainment. The Kokomo Performing Arts Pavilion has announced the free 2013 summer concert series at Foster Park located in downtown Kokomo, Ind. with an exceptionally strong and diverse lineup featuring classic rock, country, classic hits, Motown, pop, R&B and more.

"It is our goal to bring quality entertainment to Kokomo and drive people from the area and beyond to our fine city. With a diverse lineup of acts we hope to attract fans of all walks of life to our FREE summer concert series," said Brett Daniels, Talent Coordinator for Kokomo Arts Pavilion at Foster Park.

To kick off this year’s series at the Kokomo Performing Arts Pavilion will be The Contours with Sylvester Potts for an evening of Motown along with special guests 23-10, 26 West, Token Blue, and Shiny Penny on Saturday, June 8 as part of the Ribfest at The Pavilion. The following weekend, southern rock legends Georgia Satellites, best known for their Billboard hit "Keep Your Hands To Yourself, " along with "Battleship Chains" and "Hippy Hippy Shake!" will take the stage on Friday, June 14 with guest performers, Rodney Collins Band and The Easthills. The Kokomo Symphony Orchestra will perform 1964: The Tribute to the Beatles honoring the music icons on Saturday, June 22 led by music director José Valencia. Finishing up the month, The Kingdom Come Festival will feature acts from Never Cease, Soulyptic, 3 Times Driven, From the Ruins, Da Messenger, Black Pages, Shine Bright Baby, Pioneer, Children 18:3, and Grave Robber on Friday, June 28 and performances from Jacob Generation, The Surrendering, Matt Moore, Blake Whiteley, Brianna Caprice, Silver From Flames, Sorpus Christi, Trevor Heyd, 3 Union, Pure Star Movement, Forever at Last, Loftland, The Protest, Ashes Remain, and Nine Lashes on Saturday, June 29. As Kokomo’s largest Christian music festival, it began in 2010 and has grown from around 100 people in attendance in year one to approximately 1200 in year two.

Continuing the summer fun with the Haynes Apperson Festival, iconic Blue Oyster Cult, known for such hard rock songs as "(Don't Fear) The Reaper," "Burnin' for You" and "Godzilla," will appear on Thursday, July 4 with the group Misfit Toys. Here Come the Mummies, a Funk and R&B band, best known for their live performances, which band members perform in full mummy attire bandages, will follow on Friday, July 5 accompanied by Shiny Penny. Night Ranger, world-renowned rock band with 17 million albums sold worldwide, will take the stage on Saturday, July 6 with special guest, the Eric Steckel Band, to conclude the festival and holiday weekend. Internationally acclaimed performers, Peter Noone and Herman’s Hermits, will be joined by a special guest, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Terry Sylvester, formerly of the Hollies, for Family Day in the Park at The Pavilion on Saturday, July 20. As part of Cyclefest at the Pavilion, Grammy winning country rock band, The Kentucky Headhunters, will take the stage on Saturday, July 27 with special guest Roger's Ritual and the Troy Stone Band.

Nashville-based Rich Mahan & the Cocktail Heroes will perform on Friday, August 2, accompanied by Two Cow Garage, Grifters and Shills, Nashville Regulars, Walker County and Dicky James and the Blue Flames as part of the annual Weberfest at the Pavilion. Continuing the weekend fun and Weberfest, more entertainment and the Food Truck Revolution will take place on Saturday, August 3, featuring The Original Wailers, best known for their work with Bob Marley, performing along with special guests Jason Skaggs Band, Hannah's Pocket, Fossil Generation, No Coast and Rodeo Ruby Love. Sunday, August 4 is Kid’s Day and thus completes the final day of Weberfest. In addition to the variety of kid’s activities and family fun, Justin Roberts and the Not Ready for Naptime Players, considered one of the “all-stars” of the indie family music scene, will perform at the Pavilion.

Kokomo’s own country music singer and songwriter, Sylvia Hutton, will perform for Rhumfest at The Pavilion on Saturday, August 10. Sample local food & drinks from hometown restaurants for the Taste of Kokomo festival on Saturday, August 17 while listening to LoCash Cowboys, featuring songs from their debut album This Is How We Do It, along with the musicians Paul Stout Country, Jason Skaggs Band, Rewind and Inside Out. Pink Droyd (A Tribute to Pink Floyd) will wrap up the jam-packed summer concert series as they honor the legendary rockers on Saturday, August 24 by performing "Dark Side of the Moon" with a laser light spectacular along with special guest The Pete Flores Band.

Paul McCartney's 'Out There' tour coming to Indianapolis

Bohlsen Group was brought on to assist with the announcement of the return of Paul McCartney to Indianapolis. The legendary performer will perform as part of his "Out There" tour on Sunday, July 14 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

In short order, members of the Bohlsen Group team assisted with preparation for the press conference by implementing various marketing initiatives leading up to the announcement and writing a script for press conference speakers. The Bohlsen Group team also assisted with on-site facilitation and support at the announcement and invited, pitched and secured media coverage.

We’re giving away 20 hours of free PR services to one deserving nonprofit, and consultations to at least two contest runners-up. So, before you slap on the sunblock and head to the beach, make sure you complete your application.

Historic Cincinnati theatre heads in new direction

A downtown Cincinnati landmark built in 1928, the historic 2,500-seat Taft Theatre, has undergone major renovations over the last year, essentially becoming two performance venues.

The historic and well-known upstairs theatre now has a refreshed downstairs space known as The Ballroom. Hosting a number of up-and-coming acts and national talent, The Ballroom lends itself to a club-type feel, which is reflected in everything from the musical acts, affordability and smaller capacity.

Bohlsen Group has been working with the Taft Theatre to raise awareness about the new changes and the re-energized space that has created a new hub for live music in Cincinnati and promises strong economic impact in the community. IPSEF blazing thru nonprofit 'March Madness'

The team at the IPS Education Foundation is still going strong in the city’s Brackets for Good competition.

The contest for nonprofits works just like an NCAA March Madness bracket: The nonprofit earning the most donations each round advances to the next. Every $1 donation to the Foundation equals a point on the scoreboard. Donation totals reset every Sunday at midnight, but organizations keep all the money they earn during voting.

And ... the overall winner also takes home an extra $5,000 from Brackets for Good!

The IPSEF took the first round with 1,145 points/dollars. The second round ends March 18 at midnight.

Chicago Auto Show draws broad media coverage
